Manchester United went full “Manchester United” in the best possible way against Lyon as they staged a late comeback to progress to semifinals of the Europa League.
United’s 5-4 win vs Lyon summed up both, the best and worst of this side, with an early lead followed by a regular European collapse, before the comeback kings discovered themselves again.
It was a game enough to set the pulses racing and then some, and one player who wasn’t involved, Ayden Heaven, sent a three word message after this hectic affair.
It summed up the feeling of Man Utd fans everywhere in the world.

Luke Shaw looked undercooked and conceded a penalty that was on course to end Man Utd’s season by any meaningful metric.
Heaven would have been a nice reinforcement to call upon and the chances are that he plays in some capacity against Wolves, after Ruben Amorim admitted he’ll take risks in the league.
The mood immediately after the game, however, was one of equal parts euphoria and bewilderment, and Heaven’s message captured it perfectly in three words.
Posting on Instagram after the game, Heaven simply said, “Oh my word,” with five heart emojis, probably a nod to the five goals United scored to win the tie.
Man Utd can’t afford to do it again
As good a watch as it became for neutrals, it must be said at the risk of being a spoilsport that Amorim won’t be too happy at how the team allowed the game to get to this stage.
There’s glory in comeback but sometimes a no-fuss win is what’s needed to get the confidence flowing.
Confidence and adrenaline are different things and the latter comes from these types of games but always disappears once the euphoria wears off.
What United need is confidence and that only comes with commanding performances, one which they were delivering up until the 70th minute.
This is a famous win that will live long in the memory but great teams are made on no-fuss wins week after week.
