Manchester United teenager Reece Devine has given a positive injury update after being stretchered off in midweek.
The young left-back was knocked out in a late incident in the 3-2 EFL Trophy defeat at Tranmere.
With another incident delaying the game too, there were 15 minutes of injury time added on at the end.
The club’s match report read: “Devine left the pitch on a stretcher after receiving treatment on the field for almost 10 minutes. Hopefully, the full-back makes a quick recovery.”
Coach Neil Wood told the club website on Thursday: “I think the lad led with his arm and he had a black eye straight away. It knocked him out.”
Devine sent a message out on Instagram today saying his injury ‘isn’t serious’.
Good news is a relief
At the time when Devine went down it looked like it could be serious, with it appearing as though he was being treated for a neck or head injury.
United are likely to play it safe and will have him sit out for Monday’s under-23 game at home to West Brom.
The former City youngster has stepped up impressively this season from the under-18s after Brandon Williams was promoted to the first team.
The 17-year-old has 14 academy appearances this season in total and five assists.
With his first comment being to express his disappointment at United’s EFL Trophy elimination, it suggests he is just a bit bruised and he will be back playing soon once he is rested up.
