‘Won’t be surprised’ – Fans react to Unai Emery wanting Marcus Rashford, they all think the same thing would happen

Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United has become the topic of much discussion. The forward could leave after 20 years with the club.

Rashford hasn’t started for United since their Europa League game against Viktoria Plzen in the second week of December. Frozen out, Ruben Amorim has publicly criticised Rashford for a lack of effort both on, and off, the pitch.

His time at Old Trafford appears to be coming to an end, and even though Rashford’s preference has been to join Barcelona, United have recently opened talks with Aston Villa.

Fans react to Aston Villa opening talks for Marcus Rashford

After learning Unai Emery has ‘personally requested’ Aston Villa open talks to sign Rashford, fans have been quick to give their thoughts on social.

The general feeling is that a move to Villa Park for United’s misfiring number 10 is a deal that would benefit all parties.

And even though Rashford has found the net just 15 times since the start of last season, fans think Emery is the perfect manager to get him back to his best.

“Emery is the perfect manager for Rashford, he’ll get him firing, if he can get a brilliant season out of Lacazette, he can do it with Rashford,” one fan posted on X.

“Under Unai Emery he will blossom,” another added.

“I’ll tell you something for free. Emery is very good with strikers, he can surely help Rashford. He will get good stuff out of Rashford,” a third said.

Another supporter said: “Rashford is a fantastic player Nobody can doubt his skills. Emery would relight that fire…”

A fifth fan compared Rashford’s potential revival to Youri Tieleman’s resurgence under Emery.

“Villa somehow make a lot of sense. I won’t be surprised if they can make Rashford come back to form as well, a la Tielemans,” the fan posted.

“An Unai Emery team can provide a good platform for Rashy. Attack-minded LB, solid CM platform, striker who likes combination play.”

Where Rashford could fit in at Aston Villa

Surprisingly, Emery doesn’t have many wide-attacking options at Aston Villa.

The Villains have just three recognised wingers, four if you include Morgan Rogers, so it’s clear to see where Rashford would fit in.

The 27-year-old isn’t going to face anywhere near the same competition at Villa as he would at Barcelona.

Unlikely to ever start ahead of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, Rashford would be nothing more than a bench player at Barcelona, a situation many would argue makes a transfer pointless.

This wouldn’t be the case at Villa though. Rashford could become Emery’s first-choice left winger and could even fill in as a centre-forward following Al-Nassr’s agreement to sign Jhon Duran.

Regardless of the outcome of Villa’s talks with United, one thing is for sure: Rashford won’t find many better opportunities to revive his career than the one Emery is offering.
