Manchester United took a look at Reda Khadra last month, The Mail repotred.
Khadra had a short spell on trial with United in early September and took him as part of the under-23 side for a friendly with Doncaster, although he did not play.
The young winger was a free agent after being released by Borussia Dortmund in June.

Khadra, 19, only spent a few days with United and left without being offered a contract.
Now he has signed a contract with Brighton and Hove Albion.
The young winger has a fresh start, and in reality, a move to Brighton is better for him than a switch to Manchester United.
There, Khadra will stand a better chance of progressing to the first team.
United do need wingers, and Khadra might have been worth a gamble on a free transfer, but we will trust the coaching staff’s judgement on this, that they have taken a look at him, assessed him, and felt he was not what we were looking for.
