Manchester United’s U21 side are unbeaten this season, with Jack Fletcher continuing to be a standout.

Travis Binnion and his Manchester United U21 side sit top of the Premier League 2, with a 100 per cent winning record.

This incredible start to the 2025/26 season has seen a handful of players raise their levels and begin to make a case that they should be in line for a first-team call up.

Shea Lacey has been incredible for United at an U21 level this season, while striker Chido Obi has shown plenty of positive signs.

However, in the race to be considered by Ruben Amorim, there is one player who is simply too good to ignore as he is ready for senior football, this being Jack Fletcher.

Jack Fletcher scores for Manchester United U21 vs Everton

United’s U21 side took on Everton on Friday night and similar to every other league outing this season, it was Binnion’s side who walked out with three points, winning 2-1.

Jayce Fitzgerald scored for United, but it was Jack Fletcher who caught the eye as he starred despite being an unnatural left-back in the 4-2-3-1 system.

In this unfamiliar role, Fletcher showed his quality with a brilliant powerful shot from the edge of the box, which the goalkeeper could get a hand to but had no chance of keeping it out.

This was Fletcher’s fourth goal contribution of the season, but his all-round performances are what are deserving of praise.

Over the summer, United staff challenged Fletcher to improve physically and his ability to now play as a full-back suggests he achieved this goal.

Jack Fletcher looks the part for Manchester United

Fletcher has been on the cusp of first-team football for a couple of years now, but at the moment he looks the closest to making the jump he ever has been.

Bruno Fernandes has admitted expecting magic from Fletcher, as the England U19 international’s Cole Palmer-esque style of play has clearly impressed his senior teammates.

Fletcher’s goal is a clear message to United’s first-team staff coaching staff, telling Amorim not to forget about him.

The Daily Mail has claimed that alongside Shea Lacey, Fletcher is closest to making his first-team debut, and it would be considered a shock if he didn’t debut this season at some stage.
