Manchester United’s U21 side were in action on Tuesday night in the International Premier League Cup.
It was another bad outing in a competition that has been a disaster for Travis Binnion’s side, finishing with just two points from four games.
Manchester United’s U21 side welcomed Danish side Nordsjaelland to Moss Lane on Tuesday night, knowing progression in the competition was already impossible.
United lost 3-1 on the night, with some disappointing moments leading to sloppy goals which Binnion will feel should have been avoided.
However, the academy side pulled one goal back through one of the only silver-lining from the game.

Chido Obi one of the few positives for Manchester United
On a night to forget for the Red Devils, Chido Obi was once again a star performer for United.
In the second half and already at 3-0 down, Obi raced through on goal one-on-one and cooly finished past the goalkeeper.
He was slipped in by a delightful Finley McAllister pass which was inch-perfect and handed Obi the chance to score his first U21 goal as a United player.
It was Obi’s 11th goal for United this season across all age groups, despite only making a handful of starts. The goal against Nordsjaelland added with Obi’s assist for Amir Ibragimov in the UEFA Youth League shows his development.

Obi will feel he should have had more, hitting the crossbar from outside the box and also missing a good chance. Despite this, his ability to keep going is one that all great strikers have.
Obi is speeding into Ruben Amorim’s plans
Manchester United signed Obi for the future, adding him to a fantastic group of youngsters already at the club.
However, when he arrived there was a suspicion that due to his goal-scoring ability, he could very quickly progress through the ranks and that seems to be happening.
Obi has been primarily a U18 striker – a level at which Obi racked up an impressive goal record for Arsenal – but has been slowly becoming regular with the U21s. Now, if he is able to start scoring regularly at this level, perhaps in the EFL Trophy, then the next step would be knocking on the first team’s door.
Ruben Amorim was told about Obi upon his arrival, and now the head coach is said to have had him in senior training to get a closer look. All things are pointing in the direction of Obi becoming the player he promises to be.
