Manchester United youngster Tyler Fletcher has had a dream start to the season at under-18s level.
In summer 2023 Manchester United secured a double-deal to sign Darren Fletcher’s sons Jack Fletcher and Tyler Fletcher from rivals Manchester City.
Both players were regarded as big talents. Tyler Fletcher is a youth international for Scotland, while his twin brother Jack has chosen to represent England.
In their debut seasons at Carrington, it was Jack who made bigger progress. He ended up training with the first team, and going on the club’s pre-season tour in summer 2024.
Jack Fletcher has continued his progress, featuring strongly for the under-21s early on this season – while Tyler Fletcher is also now kicking on.

Tyler Fletcher leads United victory
Tyler Fletcher did not play as frequently as he wanted to in 2023/24; he is making up for this now, starring in every under-18s game this season to date.
United’s side have a 100 per cent record, topped off with a staggering 9-0 win over Blackburn at the weekend, with James Scanlon scoring four goals.
Tyler Fletcher was one of the players who did not get on the scoresheet, yet he played a huge role in the victory, pulling the strings from midfield.
Fletcher ended the game with four assists, setting up two goals for Scanlon, another for prolific striker Gabriele Biancheri, and another to set up a first ever goal for Dante Plunkett.
Fletcher’s pass for Plunkett’s was one of the picks, with a perfectly weighted pass slid in to the advancing left-back, who took his shot like a forward.
But the one which will get on his highlight reel was Fletcher’s final assist of the match, a backheel inside the Blackburn penalty box for Scanlon to score at the near post.
Fletcher scored against Liverpool earlier in the campaign, his solitary goal of the season so far – and he is now up to six assists.
What can Tyler Fletcher achieve in 2024/25
Tyler Fletcher is enjoying his football and flourishing having a key role in the under-18s team at present.
While there is no reason to disrupt that, there is quite obviously a possibility that United will look to move Fletcher up a level to the under-21s.
Chances for the Fletcher twins to play alongside each other have not really come along so far, but Tyler Fletcher’s performances are demonstrating that he is capable of playing at the same level as his brother.
It’s a tall order for one young player to make the Manchester United first team – let alone two from the same family at the same time.
The two prospects have proven they are at United on merit, not because of the name. And there is a lot more to come.
