Phil Jones scores training goal after Cristiano Ronaldo backheel

Manchester United do not release training footage very often. When they do, they know it’s special.

The club cameras may have struck gold with the short clip they released this afternoon, capturing a rare Phil Jones strike.

Jones linked up with superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, latching onto a backheel from the Manchester United number 7, before coolly slotting home with a sidefoot finish.

There was no celebration from Jones either, who just turned to head back to his position.

This Ronaldo to Phil Jones combination is the one Manchester United have been waiting for!

You can watch the ‘precise finish’ in the short video clip below…

United have struggled to score goals in recent games (the Leeds match aside, everybody scores against them).

This is despite creating more chances than any other team since interim manager Ralf Rangnick took over.

Phil Jones has not played since coming on as a substitute against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup defeat last month.

We would not expect him to feature away at Manchester City this weekend either, but sticking him on up front might confuse Pep Guardiola’s side enough to pull off a result.
