Manchester United have made an approach for German goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, reports Sport1.
The German channel report that while United have not yet made a bid for Trapp, the club have asked Eintracht Frankfurt for permission to speak to the player.
Sport1 report this request has been given the green light by Eintracht Frankfurt, last seasons’ Europa League champions.
United’s permission to speak with Trapp has the personal approval of Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche.

United make approach to sign Kevin Trapp
Trapp, 32, is just the latest goalkeeper to be linked with a move to Manchester United in recent days, following Benfica stopper Odysseas Vlachodimos.
The veteran stopper is in his second spell at Eintracht Frankfurt after a stint at Paris Saint-Germain between 2015 and 2018.
Trapp is a regular for Eintracht Frankfurt, and it would be a surprise if he agreed to come to United as second choice.
Even during his time at PSG he was first choice, and as soon as he wasn’t he moved on.
He is battling for a spot in Germany’s World Cup squad, and so is less than likely to want to come in and sign as David de Gea’s back-up.
Trapp made the third highest number of saves in the Bundesliga last season (112).
At present it feels like United are just exploring various options, ahead of a late move. The decision made in goal will centre on whether Erik ten Hag wants a replacement for David de Gea, or a back-up.
If he wants a replacement, and promises of game time are made, then we could be seeing Kevin Trapp head to Old Trafford.
