Manchester United told to pay £106m for Martinez and Antony

Ajax have told Manchester United to pay £106 million for Lisandro Martinez and Antony, report The Daily Record.

The report states both players have been pressuring Ajax to sell them to United, with both players keen on the move.

It adds: “Personal terms [are] in place on the two deals.”

Ajax have so far stood firm over both players, keen not to lose too many pieces of their Eredivisie winning side.

Manchester United told to pay £106m

United’s current spend this summer is just £15 million including add-ons for Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia.

This is about to be recouped via Andreas Pereira’s move to Fulham, which is for an initial £10 million rising to £13 million, Fabrizio Romano reports.

United finished in sixth place last season with a worst ever points total in the Premier League era, so a £2 million net spend so far is very underwhelming.

The latest report states: “Record Sport understands that both Antony and Martinez have placed pressure on the Dutch club to accept United’s current offers for them.”

The Mirror reported United have bid £40 million for Martinez, while GOAL report United have offered £51 million for Antony.

This £91 million combined is £15 million short of Ajax’s asking price for the pair. Both players starred under Erik ten Hag at Ajax last season.

Also in the background is United’s ongoing pursuit of Frenkie de Jong. Fabrizio Romano reported at the end of last month that this deal could reach £73 million with add-ons.

United fly out on pre-season tour on Friday, with it currently looking like only one new signing will be flying out as part of the squad.
