Manchester United are looking at a deal to sign Dutch striker Wout Weghorst, claim multiple sources, first reported by Footmercato.
Weghorst is on loan at Besiktas from Championship side Burnley, and his deal would have to be cut short. Fabrizio Romano reports he would like to move to United.
The 30-year-old played in Germany with Wolfsburg before signing with Burnley, scoring 70 goals for the club.
This form prompted Burnley to sign him last season, and while it did not work out there, with the side destined for relegation, and he was expected to almost single-handedly save them.
Weghorst will be a better fit in a cohesive system, and this is what Erik ten Hag has put in place at Manchester United. The Dutchman is a tactically astute boss, who will know how to get the best out of him.

Bundesliga expert Jan Aage-Fjortoft has given his view on the potential deal, and says Weghorst would be a ‘perfect fit’ for United.
This is the type of positivity United fans will want to hear regarding the deal, if it were to go ahead.
Besiktas are not yet convinced, with sporting director Ceyhun Kazanci telling NTV Spor: “He is our football player right now. Our contract expires at the end of the season.
“If Manchester United or any other team wants Weghorst, they will meet with Burnley anyway. Burnley will then contact us and discuss the terms of separation.
“If we accept, the contract will be terminated. Otherwise, it will go on until the end of the season. He can’t just go. There will have to be a reward for us to approve the separation.”
