Manchester United tormented Newcastle United in the transfer market last summer and Ineos missed an opportunity to steal another of their targets in the shape of Johan Manzambi.
Last summer, Manchester United beat Newcastle to Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.
Newcastle actually outbid United for Sesko, but the Slovenian striker preferred a move to Old Trafford. Once again, Newcastle are missing out on of their top targets in Johan Manzambi.
According to David Ornstein, Aston Villa are in the process of hijacking Newcastle’s deal for Manzambi.

WHO should Manchester United sign instead if the deal for Ederson has COLLAPSED?
Man United missed out on Johan Manzambi
Aston Villa moved quickly to hijack Newcastle’s deal for Manzambi, although Fabrizio Romano made it clear that other Premier League clubs were looking to get involved in the transfer race.
United should have been among them.
After the Ederson deal collapsed, United desperately need to scour the market for alternatives and Manzambi was a bargain opportunity.
Manzambi has starred in the World Cup for Switzerland and is ready to make a step up in his career, and he would have been a market opportunity for Ineos to sign another young player.

How much Johan Manzambi would have cost Man United
Newcastle’s agreement for Manzambi was £49 million, so United could have got involved by matching that fee.
If accepted by Freiburg, it would have been up to the player to decide who he wants to join.

Manzambi had already agreed personal terms with Newcastle and Villa, but if United matched their offer or even offered an increased wage, a hijack could have been on the cards.
United have plenty of budget remaining after the Ederson deal fell through, and the lure of Champions League could have helped Ineos to get a deal over the line.
