Manchester United have announced Youri Tielemans as the third signing of the summer transfer window.
On the same day that Manchester United announced Karl Darlow’s move to the club, Youri Tielemans has been unveiled as a new signing.
United struck a £35m deal for Tielemans, triggering his release clause at Aston Villa to get the transfer done swiftly.
Tielemans has signed a five-year deal until 2031, and will bring experience and quality to United’s midfield department as an FA Cup and Europa League winner.

After Darlow, Tielemans is the oldest signing made by Ineos as a 29-year-old.
It has been noted that Tielemans is a short-term signing, designed to bring quality to the starting XI rather than as a signing for the future.
In his first comments as a United player, Tielemans confirmed he has been brought in to win trophies, in line with Project 150, the club’s plan to win the Premier League by 2028.
As quoted on United’s website, Tielemans said: “It’s hard to describe just how proud I am to join Manchester United. Signing for such a special club feels incredible, it is the culmination of years of dedication since I first fell in love with football.
“I have had the privilege of experiencing success in the game and it has only increased my determination to achieve more. The ambition from everyone at the club is extremely clear; we are all determined to push for the biggest trophies over the coming years.”
Tielemans will hope to add to his trophy haul during his five-year stay with United.

Jason Wilcox comments on Youri Tielemans joining Man United
Sporting director Jason Wilcox also commented on Tielemans’ arrival, praising his on-pitch talent as well as his off-pitch character.
“Youri has consistently been one of the most outstanding midfielders in the Premier League throughout the past seven years. He has all of the technical qualities, as well as the ambition and mentality, to thrive at Manchester United,” Wilcox said.
“Youri’s consistency is exceptional, and he will add further composure, creativity and leadership to our squad.

Tielemans will join up with Carrick’s squad after his summer break following his participation in the 2026 World Cup.
