AC Milan’s position on Manchester United and Netherlands striker Joshua Zirkzee has now emerged after Ruben Amorim was appointed as the Serie A club’s new head coach.
Joshua Zirkzee was linked with the likes of AC Milan and other Serie A clubs, including Juventus and Roma, during the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
The 25-year-old Dutch forward has struggled to see his Old Trafford playing career take off after Manchester United signed him from Italian side Bologna in 2024.
Zirkzee has been limited with his United first-team minutes since his arrival from the Serie A and he played a distant second fiddle to striker Benjamin Sesko last season.

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti reveals where Ruben Amorim would stand on a reunion with Man Utd star Joshua Zirkzee at AC Milan
Manchester United are expected to sign another forward option in the summer window and Joshua Zirkzee could fall further down the pecking order at the club.
Zirkzee is under contract with Man Utd until 2029 and the Netherlands international is deemed surplus to requirements for Michael Carrick’s long-term ambitions.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Italian reporter Carlo Pellegatti has insisted that Ruben Amorim would not want a reunion with Zirkzee at AC Milan this summer.
“Playing behind the striker as an attacking midfielder,” he said.
“There’s one name nobody has mentioned, and I’ll even put it in the title: could Ruben Amorim perhaps have an idea for Joshua Zirkzee?
“A lot of people have told me, ‘No, absolutely not, Amorim doesn’t like him at all and has never really considered him.’
“But I think if Milan were to lose Christian Pulisic, Zirkzee seems like the ideal profile to play behind a central striker because of the movements he makes.”

Carlo Pellegatti hints that AC Milan could move for Joshua Zirkzee, despite Ruben Amorim’s feelings towards the Man Utd striker
United are expected to sanction a sale for the out-of-favour Zirkzee if the right offer is made for the struggling Netherlands striker this summer.
Carlo Pellegatti added that Milan will be actively looking for a new forward option this summer and Zirkzee could be considered as a cheaper alternative.
“He struggled and didn’t play much under Amorim,” he explained.
“He also found it difficult adapting to Premier League football. Yet he was outstanding in Italy.
“Of course, Milan probably wouldn’t spend €30[m] [to] €40m on a centre-forward, but since Manchester United no longer seem to view him as a key player, perhaps Milan could bring in Zirkzee on a deal with an obligation to buy.”
Milan-linked Zirkzee ended the 2025-26 campaign by scoring only two times and picking up an assist in 26 matches across all competitions for the Red Devils
