World-renowned sprinter Usain Bolt wants Manchester United to complete a transfer for Viktor Gyokeres.

Sporting CP talisman Viktor Gyokeres is being linked heavily with a move to the Premier League.

Manchester United and Arsenal are interested in Gyokeres, who enjoyed a remarkable title-winning season in Portugal, scoring 54 goals and registering 13 assists.

Ruben Amorim wants to work with Gyokeres again after their time together in Lisbon, but it remains to be seen if Ineos can negotiate a deal that will see the 27-year-old snub the option to join a side competing in the Champions League next season.

United fans are eager to see a new striker signed after watching Rasmus Hojlund struggle to lead the line on his own for the past two years. The Dane has been linked with a move to Inter Milan after scoring just 10 goals across all competitions last term.

Usain Bolt urges Manchester United to sign Viktor Gyokeres

There are several strikers causing debate among United fans this summer.

With Victor Osimhen available at Napoli, United have more options than Gyokeres, even though they’ve already lost out on one, with Liam Delap opting to leave Ipswich Town for Chelsea.

Celebrity United fan Usain Bolt has some ideas about which players Amorim should sign, after watching the team finish 15th in the Premier League. The same team lost the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur, so there is plenty of room for improvement.

The former Jamaican athlete spoke to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet to reveal where he’d like to see Gyokeres playing his football next season.

“I would like to see him at Manchester United,” Bolt said, as quoted by A Bola. “I think it is close to happening, precisely because of Amorim. I think he will sign.

“There seems to be a small problem with the amount they [Sporting] are asking for Gyokeres, but we hope to be able to pay and complete the deal.”

Bolt is optimistic about United’s chances for the season ahead, despite enduring a turbulent 2024/25 campaign.

“Next season will be good, I think we will be good, I think we will be better. And in two years we will be fine.

“We’ll see what happens. I’m looking forward to his [Gyokeres] arrival, because we need consistent strikers.”

Other players Bolt wants Man Utd to sign

In a previous interview, Bolt revealed which three players United should sign.

One of them included Gyokeres as Bolt has been a fan of the Swede for some time.

However, Bolt also suggested two other players, including Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.

The other was Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past.

Bolt told Bleacher Report: “The left winger from Atalanta. He’s called Lookman. I’ve watched him throughout; he’s pretty good.

“And, I think Cole Palmer has really showed his class.

“And the striker is, I can’t pronounce his last name, but it’s Viktor [Gyokeres] from Sporting. I can’t pronounce his last name [laughs]…

“Those are the three signings.”
