Manchester United’s recruitment plans this summer go beyond just bolstering Ruben Amorim’s first-team.

While Jason Wilcox is busy trying to complete a deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo this summer, there is substantial efforts being made to improve the academy.

This makes Manchester United head of academy recruitment Luke Fedorenko one of the busiest people inside Carrington this summer.

Already, this summer has seen United sign Harley Emsden-James from Southampton for a fee of £1m, with the 16-year-old seen as one of the nations most exciting defenders in his age bracket.

However, as seen last summer, United are looking to bring in more than just one new wonderkid. Already, United are showing serious interest in signing Seth Ridgeon, while the England U17 captain is not alone.

Manchester United face stiff competition for Tyrese Noubissie

With much of the U18 squad from last season now stepping up into the U21s, new U18 head coach Darren Fletcher will be keen for additions.

In particular, United are keen to bolster the youth midfield options with Ridgeon a prime example of this. Last week it was claimed United are already in talks for Ridgeon along with Manchester City youngster Tyrese Noubissie.

Now, United in Focus transfer correspondent, Graeme Bailey, has revealed that the Red Devils have made an offer to sign the French youngster.

Noubissie is understood to have already told City of his desire to depart this summer and they aren’t going to stand in the 16-year-old’s way.

United have already made Noubissie an offer, United in Focus understands, with a strong proposal put forward to the player.

Despite Ineos’ interest, there is a high level of clubs chasing his signature this summer with Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham all holding talks this summer.

Additionally, Chelsea’s sister-club Strasbourg are linked with BlueCo attempting to sign him for the multi-club model. This is possible due to Noubissie having a French passport through his father.

This could potentially see Noubissie learning from Strasbourg signing Maxi Oyedele who was formerly of Carrington.

Manchester United could have incredible U18 midfield options next season

Noubissie cost Man City £1m back in 2023 when he was just 14, showcasing how talented he is and why United are so keen to sign him.

Both Noubissie and Ridgeon are considered among the best midfielders currently playing U18 football in England, and to go for both is a show of how aggressively the club are looking to develop the academy.

This would give Fletcher a large group of U18 midfielders to develop and work with.

Ridgeon and Noubissie would join: Jariyah Shah, Jim Thwaites, Jay McEvoy, Douka Nkoto, Amir Ibragimov, James Bailey, Edward Ibrovic-Fletcher and Bassirou Nkoto.

This is a very talented crop of players aged between 17 and 14, which poses plenty of questions for the academy decision makers.
