Turkish journalist says Wout Weghorst is prepared to pay ‘out of his own pocket’ to seal Manchester United move

Manchester United linked striker Wout Weghorst could be willing to take drastic action in order to seal a move to the club.

No agreement has yet been found, with Manchester United required to make an offer which would satisfy both Burnley and his loan side Besiktas.

Weghorst was reported by Fabrizio Romano to be ‘clear’ he wants to leave Besiktas to join Manchester United, which certainly helps.

Now further information has been put forward, about just how determined Weghorst is to seal a move to the club.

Turkish journalist Gokhan Dinc writes on Twitter: “If Weghorst does not leave Beşiktaş, he will pay the contract termination fee out of his own pocket.”

Dinc is a legacy verified sports writer with 109,000 followers, who reports daily on Turkish football.

It is clear that the view in Turkey appears to be that the Super Lig side are facing a losing battle to hold onto the centre-forward.

The Times has reported that meetings were held on Monday between clubs, and Besiktas are holding out for 35 per cent of the loan agreement.

It is unclear how much the total loan fee comes in at, or how much Manchester United have available to spend on a loan fee.

An earlier Times report had claimed ‘Weghorst begs Besiktas to cancel loan’, showing very clearly that the Netherlands striker is determined to clinch his once in a lifetime move to Manchester United.

His reported willingness to pay out of his own pocket is an extra step, which is hopefully won’t come to – but it shows how much he wants to play in Erik ten Hag’s side.

This kind of desire will go down very well with Manchester United supporters, who can expect a strong goalscorer with a high work rate. He could be a major hit.
