Matheus Cunha is expected to join Manchester United once the Red Devils return from their post-season tour of Asia.
The Red Devils are scheduled to play two friendly matches in Asia as part of an £8 million post-season tour drawn up by Ineos.
The first of those two matches was played on Wednesday afternoon and United lost 1-0 to ASEAN All-Stars to continue the misery from the 2024/25 campaign.
United fans are in desperate need of some good news and hopefully the transfer window will provide some optimism.
Matheus Cunha will undergo a medical soon before completing a £62.5 million move to Old Trafford.
What Ruben Amorim said about Matheus Cunha deal
Cunha is a big admirer of Amorim and it seems the Brazilian will soon play under him in a United shirt.
According to reports, Cunha is set to sign imminently and Amorim was inevitably asked about the deal following the defeat to ASEAN All-Stars.
As per journalist Laurie Whitwell, Amorim was asked about Cunha and said: “You have to wait for that.
“It won’t confirm anything. I have no news. We will see. There will be some changes”
Amorim stayed fairly tight-lipped about Cunha’s arrival, but his first sentence – “you have to wait for that” – suggests work is still going on behind the scenes to make it happen.
When Matheus Cunha announcement is expected at Man United
Ineos have wasted no time getting started on the summer rebuild, with Cunha the first of many to arrive at Old Trafford.
The summer window officially opens on June 1st, meaning United will have to wait until then to register him as a new signing.
However an announcement can be made in advance of the window opening, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has explained the timeline.

Romano expects Cunha to be “formally signed” next week once Amorim and the squad return from Asia.
It means Cunha will be registered and ready to be involved in United’s 2025 pre-season tour of the United States later this summer.
