Technical director celebrates after signing impressive Man Utd talent on loan, ‘he’s extremely well regarded’

Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek is on the move once again, having joined Championship side Bristol City on loan.

Manchester United’s goalkeeping situation is a little up in the air ahead of the new Premier League season.

Andre Onana had been targeted by Monaco, but was set to open the season as United’s first-choice goalkeeper before picking up an injury.

Altay Bayindir was expected to leave United, but the Turkish stopper may now be required to fill in for Onana.

The Cameroonian’s injury left many believing that Radek Vitek could receive a chance to shine in pre-season, especially after shining on loan at Blau-Weiss Linz last season.

Vitek has been tipped for the top by Tommy Lee, but the Czech stopper will now spend another season away from Old Trafford.

Radek Vitek on Manchester United loan exit

Vitek has previously been on loan at Accrington Stanley and will now add more EFL minutes to his game.

Bristol City have finalised the signing of Vitek on loan for the season, handing him a chance to play in the Championship.

Vitek was poised to join Sturm Graz, but Bristol City have swooped in to hijack the deal.

Robins boss Gerhard Struber is Austrian and may well have seen Vitek impressing during his time with Blau-Weiss Linz last season.

Vitek will head to Ashton Gate as competition for first-choice stopper Max O’Leary, with the United talent surely backing himself to supplant the Irishman.

Speaking on Bristol City’s official website, Vitek admitted that he is ‘really excited’ to have secured the move.

Vitek added that playing more games can only help his development, clearly believing that he can become Bristol City’s number one stopper this season.

“I’m really excited, for me the Championship is a new level,” said Vitek. “More games is a big positive for me and I can’t wait to get to know all the players and staff better,” he added.

Brian Tinnion on Radek Vitek move

Bristol City’s technical director Brian Tinnion also offered his reaction to Vitek’s move.

Tinnion noted that Vitek is ‘extremely well regarded’ at United and believes that the 21-year-old can offer great competition between the sticks.

“We’re really pleased to secure the services of Radek as we strengthen the goalkeeping department for the upcoming campaign,” said Tinnion.

“He’s extremely well regarded at Manchester United and is a player we’re looking forward to working with,” he added.

Vitek may be a little disappointed to have not been given a chance during United’s pre-season campaign, but he will hope to use this latest loan move to push him closer to Ruben Amorim’s plans next summer.
