Manchester United transfer target Aurelien Tchouameni was on the losing side in El Clasico.
Real Madrid’s preparations for El Clasico could not possibly have been worse. A headline-making fallout between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni ended with the former ending up in hospital.
Tchouameni has been linked with a transfer to Manchester United, with Andy Mitten reporting the interest from the Red Devils.
The French midfielder was cleared to play after a disciplinary review. The match did not go to plan with Barcelona winning 2-0, in part thanks to a Marcus Rashford free-kick.
The defeat capped a miserable week for Real Madrid and Tchouameni in particular.

What are your thoughts on the ‘fights’ between Tchouameni and Valverde… does this present an opportunity for United? Or is this a bad omen for a transfer?

Aurelien Tchouameni rated
Aurelien Tchouameni’s Real Madrid were facing an uphill battle at the Nou Camp, made even tougher after going 2-0 down within the first 18 minutes.
Tchoiuameni played all 90, making 56 touches in total, winning seven of nine duels he contested.
Despite this, his performance was criticised as below par, with the Spanish media tearing Real apart.
Marca rated Tchouameni’s display at 5/10, commenting: “More vulnerable defensively than usual and somewhat erratic in his passing.”
Mundo Deportivo noted: “After his falling out with Valverde, he started the match and all eyes were on him. He had a lackluster game.”
Football Espana gave him a 5.5/10, commenting: “Had the most shots in the match (3), but he struggled to gain any control in the midfield fight against the likes of Pedri and Gavi, who were simply much better than him.”
AS criticised Tchouameni’s actions after the game, noting that it added to his disastrous week.
“The Frenchman refused to congratulate the Barcelona players or approach the fans to greet them and apologize, unlike many of his teammates. The image doesn’t reflect well on him at all.”

Real Madrid shake-up expected
Real Madrid’s season has been a total disaster by their high standards. Xabi Alonso was fired and replaced with Alvaro Arbeloa, who will be replaced this summer.
The Kylian Mbappe experiment has not worked out so far, with Real finishing trophyless. The defeat at the weekend confirmed Barcelona’s title triumph.
There has been speculation Jose Mourinho could return as manager.
A shake-up of personnel is expected, and selling Tchouameni is one possibility.
The secondary question is whether Manchester United should be going all-out to land him, or if he is a player the club should steer clear of.
