Manchester United are hoping that Bryan Mbeumo becomes their second major signing of the summer.
The summer rebuild kicked off with Matheus Cunha arriving from Wolves in a £62.5m deal on the very first day of the transfer window.
After a hugely disappointing 2024/25 season, action was required and Ineos are not wasting any time getting stuck into United’s transfer plans.
A £45m bid has been rejected for Bryan Mbeumo already, but Ineos remain in talks with Brentford to find a solution to bring the 25-year-old to Old Trafford.
Mbeumo has made it clear he wants to join United, and it seems one member of Ruben Amorim’s squad in particular might have helped sway his decision.

Andre Onana helped convince Bryan Mbeumo of Man Utd move
Despite Tottenham showing interest in Mbeumo, it seems United are still the favourites to sign the Brentford star even after Thomas Frank’s move to North London.
According to Manchester Evening News, United star Andre Onana has personally advised Bryan Mbeumo to make the move to Old Trafford.
Onana and Mbeumo are teammates in the Cameroon international squad and now they could extend their relationship to being club teammates too.
Onana can be United’s ace to help lure Mbeumo to Manchester, but the £47 million star will be hoping to save his own career at Old Trafford first.
After being dropped by Amorim last season, Onana’s future at United is in doubt, but the MEN report from above claims he is now expected to stay.
Andre Onana decision will dictate Man United’s transfer plans
Earlier this week, Onana did not rule out leaving United when asked about his future at the club.
But it seems he will be given another season to prove himself as United’s No.1 choice goalkeeper, and he could be joined at Old Trafford by Mbeumo.
United have been linked with Emiliano Martinez as a new No.1 shot-stopper, while reports also suggest a move for Gianluigi Donnarumma could be on the cards.

However, if Onana is staying put this summer then United can reinvest their budget elsewhere. A second-choice goalkeeper could still be needed, however, if Altay Bayindir heads for the exit.
One option is for United to poach Newcastle target James Trafford as a long-term signing for the goalkeeper position.
