Robbie Savage makes Harry Kane and Manchester United demand

Manchester United recently wrapped up a loan deal for Wout Weghorst and the striker could make his debut this week.

Yet with Weghorst just a short term arrival, there is already talk over who the club’s long term solution up front could be.

A recent report from ESPN stated Manchester United have three strikers on the club’s shortlist for the summer. These will no doubt be added to.

These are Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, and Benjamin Sesko, three strikers of very different ages, experience and profile – all who will be expensive.

Savage names Kane as dream signing

Speaking on BBC 5 Live’s 606, former Manchester United trainee Robbie Savage named Harry Kane as his number one target.

Savage said that he believes a move to Manchester United will be better for Kane’s career than staying at Tottenham.

He said: “Manchester United have got a better chance, under Erik ten Hag, than Spurs have of winning a trophy. I don’t think it would happen in this window, but in the summer, that would be my no.1 target – Harry Kane to Manchester United.”

This is not the first time Savage has called for Manchester United to pursue the England international striker.

Writing for The Mirror: “New director of football John Murtough should go all-out to bring Kane to Old Trafford. Move heaven and earth for him.”

Kane about to break Tottenham record

Kane has been reluctant during his career to leave Tottenham. But this season he will surpass the club’s goalscoring record. He is on 265 goals, one below Jimmy Greaves’ 266.

Once he becomes the club’s all-time record goalscorer, he has an extra reason to leave, having achieved personal milestones, he can ‘do a Robin van Persie’ by making a late career move to chase trophies.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United look set to be in the mix for silverware over the coming years, if not this season.

Kane’s deal at Tottenham expires in 2024. He will still cost a lot, but perhaps there is just a little bit of hope that summer 2023 could see United move to get a deal done.
