Real Madrid are interested in a move for Manchester United target Mateus Fernandes.
Amid big talk from Real Madrid president over a mega-move for a non-Premier League player, there are also other deals in play too.
Spanish newspaper AS reports that Jose Mourinho has set his sights on landing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham.

Real’s Mateus Fernandes interest
This creates a problem for Manchester United, who are chasing a deal for the Portugal midfielder, who is not part of the World Cup squad.
West Ham are demanding a fee as high as £80 million for Mateus Fernandes, a fee that feels excessive.
But their chances of landing a big fee is helped by the competition for his signature, with Arsenal and now Real Madrid chasing Fernandes along with Manchester United.
Fernandes is represented by Jorge Mendes, who is also Jose Mourinho’s agent.

Mateus Fernandes to Real Madrid would ask another question
Let’s say Real Madrid are successful in their pursuit of Mateus Fernandes. Or any midfielder.
This could speed up the potential exit of either Eduardo Camavinga or Aurelien Tchouameni. Or even Federico Valverde.
Aurelien Tchouameni has been most prominently linked to Manchester United.
The French international currently looks to be leaning towards staying at Real, but the arrival of another midfielder may push him out.
Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada has said that the club will stay alert to potential opportunities in the market.
It’s important to note that the deal for Casemiro in 2022 did not materialise until August.
While United would rather get a deal done early, some players are worth the wait.
Mateus Fernandes joining would be great, but if we do miss out, missing out to Real Madrid and snapping up Tchouameni as a result, would be a good eventual outcome.
How much should Man Utd pay to sign Aurelien Tchouameni? What would you consider a fair fee?
Do you think he would be the right fit for Man Utd?
