They want to give Diomande a ‘significant financial boost’ beyond the performance-related incentive deal he is already on.
While they accept Diomande would likely leave in 2027 anyway, they know the strategy worked with Benjamin Sesko in 2024.
Premier League clubs including United showed interest in Sesko that summer, but the Slovenian striker signed a new contract.
And with an extra year of Bundesliga and Champions League football under his belt, Sesko was better prepared for his eventual move.
While they will not be able to resist huge offers for Diomande, getting the player onside is key, ensuring that he is happy if he does stay put.
