President ‘obsessed’ with £40m Manchester United ace who is his ‘dream’ signing

Barely a day goes by these days without a twist in this particular Manchester United transfer saga.

On Wednesday, things looked a little worrying for the Red Devils.

Rumours linking Mason Greenwood with a move to Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund or Barcelona – who’s interest appeared to be confirmed by Getafe’s president during the forward’s loan spell in La Liga – had gone quiet.

There had been little movement in that proposed Juventus move. Lazio, meanwhile, failed with a £20 million bid and then appeared to turn their attention to Tijjani Noslin, per Gianluca di Marzio.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Lazio are now likely to sign Noslin. Another right-winger. Hellas Verona’s flying Dutchman, if those reports are to be believed, was also high on Manchester United’s own wishlist.

But after the fall on Wednesday came the rise on Thursday. This rollercoaster of a saga speeding up again.

Manchester United hope to sell Mason Greenwood

The Athletic’s David Ornstein provided some very welcome news this morning when he said that Marseille had opened talks with the £40 million-rated Greenwood. The early discussions are understood to have been ‘positive’ too.

The one-time England international is believed to keen on a move to a Marseille side who are set to hire Roberto de Zerbi as their new head coach.

And even if the aforementioned Noslin does end up at Lazio, that does not mean the Biancocelesti can be counted out.

To quote Sport Mediaset, the Italian publication providing an update on the Greenwood to Lazio situation, the Serie A club’s president Claudio Lotito ‘really likes’ the Carrington graduate.

Lazio were keen back in 2023 too, before Getafe offered Greenwood the fresh start he had been craving.

12 months on, the Bradford-born forward remains something of an ‘obsession’ for Lotito. So much so that, per Corriere dello Sport, the likely arrival of another right-winger in Noslin will not spell an end to the capital club’s pursuit of their president’s ‘dream’ signing.

Lazio legend Bruno Giordano shares Lotito’s enthusiasm for Greenwood. He was concerned that Lazio had shifted their focus away from Greenwood and towards Noslin, and Giordano will now be delighted to learn that this is not the case.

“Noslin can be a good solution,” Giordano tells Radio Sei. “We hope that this signing does not preclude one of Greenwood.”

Lazio remains a possibility for former Getafe loanee

Tuttomercatoweb claim that Man United discussed a deal for Noslin with Hellas Verona on Tuesday. The Red Devils reportedly went as far as to put £17 million on the table. But Noslin prefers to stay in Italy after only six months in the country, and will instead follow his former Hellas coach Marco Baroni to the Stadio Olimpico.

“The Dutch attacker is a request from Baroni. The important thing for the coach is to have as much choice as possible,” Giordano adds.

“Noslin is very well structured, a good prospect. He has scored important and quality goals, and he often gives the impression that can change within the match.

“Last season, he did well with Verona.”

Man United are now running the rule over another right-sided Serie A forward; Bologna’s Dan Ndoye, per Gianluca di Marzio.
