Manchester United have wrapped up the signature of Bryan Mbeumo, but seemingly faced very late competition from a Premier League rival.
Manchester United fans can finally rest easy knowing that Bryan Mbeumo is officially a Red Devil.
It’s taken a while; Mbeumo wanted to join United at the beginning of June, but progress on a deal with Brentford was painfully slow.
Finally, United have confirmed the signing of Mbeumo and added a major impact player to Ruben Amorim’s attack.
Mbeumo has been given the number 19 shirt and will join United’s pre-season tour of the United States, with Amorim looking to bed him into the squad quickly.

Chelsea made Bryan Mbeumo hijack attempt
United’s move for Mbeumo took far too long, and there has been rival interest along the way.
Tottenham Hotspur were keen on Mbeumo, having snatched away his former Brentford manager, Thomas Frank, to replace Ange Postecoglou.
Mbeumo made it clear that he wanted to join United, but his stance may have been tested by Chelsea.
The Daily Mail report that Chelsea ‘made a late attempt’ to hijack Mbeumo’s move to Old Trafford over the last two weeks.
The Blues sensed a lack of progress from United and attempted to sneak in and keep Mbeumo in West London.
Chelsea already snatched Liam Delap away from United earlier this summer and have since added more attacking talent in Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro.
Enzo Maresca’s side are still hunting for more attacking signings and seemingly fancied signing Mbeumo.
Fortunately, Mbeumo stayed the course and held out for his move to United, which has now been completed.

Manchester United unhappy with Brentford conduct
The report adds that United were left ‘unhappy’ with Brentford during negotiations over Mbeumo.
It’s suggested that United felt Brentford were dragging out talks and even moving the goalposts in terms of the valuation they required.
Brentford allegedly wanted £70million plus £7million in add-ons at one stage, a price United refused to pay.
The Bees even asked Mbeumo to lower his wage demands in order to force United to pay a higher transfer fee, the report claims.
Brentford tried every trick in the book to force United to pay more money, but the deal is done and Amorim now has another proven Premier League attacker in his arsenal after signing Matheus Cunha earlier in the window.
