Manchester United fans are desperate for information about Bryan Mbeumo’s potential move to Old Trafford, but a new young talent is inbound.

Manchester United have secured two signings this summer as Ruben Amorim approaches his first full season in charge.

Matheus Cunha joined United from Wolverhampton Wanderers early in the window, but remains the only attacking signing so far.

Diego Leon completed his move to United just days ago, finalising a long-awaited switch from Cerro Porteno in his native Paraguay.

Leon is one for the future, and United appear to be on the verge of confirming a new addition to the academy ranks.

Premier League approve Harley Emsden-James to Manchester United

Reports in June suggested that United were signing Harley Emsden-James from Southampton.

The 15-year-old central defender has been coming up through the Saints youth ranks and is well-known to United’s Jason Wilcox.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were all keen, but United became favourites for Emsden-James in May – and a deal is now imminent.

Fabrizio Romano claims that United have received Premier League approval to finalise the signing of Emsden-James.

The defender is viewed as a ‘major talent’ by United and has been tracked by Old Trafford scouts for more than a year.

Romano has given the move his signature ‘here we go’ tagline, suggesting that Emsden-James will be confirmed as a United player imminently.

This appears to be a significant capture for United given Emsden-James’ potential and the competition for his signature, with Wilcox surely delighted to raid Southampton for a possible star of the future.

What is the Premier League’s five-step process?

Academy signings must be ratified by the Premier League through a five-step process.

United’s deal to sign Chido Obi-Martin went through a similar process, so let’s go through the stages, as noted by The Football Scholar.

Step one sees the player’s proposed new club submit a registration form to the Premier League to start the process.

The Premier League then uses a third party to speak to the player, the parents and both clubs involved about the proposed transfer.

All of those parties must then sign a declaration form at stage three, confirming that no financial benefits were offered to secure the deal.

The third party then sends their findings to the Premier League, recommending whether or not to sanction the move.

The Premier League then go through that information and make a decision on whether to approve the registration of the player at their new club.

United appear to have successfully moved through all stages and will welcome Emsden-James to Old Trafford imminently.
