Manchester United may still miss out on signing Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy in January despite making moves over a January transfer.
United may be in the market for another striker just months after the big-money move to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.
Anthony Martial just isn’t the answer and hasn’t been for many years.
The Frenchman will surely leave with his contract expiring next summer, but United need to have striking targets in mind.
Serhou Guirassy is one name emerging at the moment but a January move for the Stuttgart hitman seems unlikely.
Manchester United may not be able to tempt Serhou Guirassy away from Stuttgart
Foot Mercato reporter Santi Aouna suggested in November that United had enquired into a potential deal for the Guinean striker.
Sky Germany now claim that United’s interest in Guirassy has ‘intensified’ ahead of January.
It’s stated that ‘first discussions’ between United and Guirassy’s representatives have taken place.
However, Guirassy’s current plan is to stay at Stuttgart until the summer and then make a move away.
Guirassy has a release clause of around €20million (£17million), making him appealing to United after splashing huge money on Hojlund.
Stuttgart couldn’t stand in Guirassy’s way but the striker himself seemingly wants continuity with Stuttgart rather than breaking the momentum of a stunning season.

Africa Cup of Nations also a factor in Guirassy chase
Guirassy has smashed 16 goals in 11 Bundesliga games this season and has been hailed as ‘phenomenal’ by Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness.
The 27-year-old is in the form of his life and a move to United would really sum up his astonishing rise.
United seemingly face a battle to convince him into a January move though, and the pursuit isn’t exactly helped by the Africa Cup of Nations.
Guirassy will be heading off to play for Guinea very soon, taking on Cameroon, Gambia and Senegal in the group stage of the competition.
Negotiations whilst Guirassy is away won’t be easy and United may well need to move on with a January move looking pretty tricky.
