Amar Dedic capped a ‘phenomenal’ performance with his first international goal on Thursday night as Premier League giants Manchester United eye up Red Bull Salzburg’s latest rising star.

Given the manner in which Dedic opened his account for Bosnia and Herzogovina during their 3-0 thumping of Iceland – cutting inside onto his supposedly ‘weaker’ left foot before thumping into the bottom corner from the edge of the box – it’s safe to assume a bright future awaits him on the international scene.

20-year-old Dedic has already made a name for himself as a player who puts the ‘attacking’ in ‘attacking full-back’. And Thursday night’s thunderbolt would have left a smile on Erik ten Hag’s face; 90Min claiming that Benjamin Sesko is not the only Salzburg starlet on Manchester United’s radar.

Dedic was ‘phenomenal’ against Iceland, writes Bosnian publication Sport Sport. He is now the third-youngest goalscorer in his nation’s history too.

Manchester United eye Red Bull Salzburg starlet Amar Dedic

“A wonderful feeling!,” Dedic tells Sport Sport. “I just can’t believe it. As a little boy I followed the national team. And the fact that I’m experiencing it here is something really big.”

Red Bull really does give you wings, it seems. The likes of Erling Haaland, Sadio Mane and Dayot Upamecano all all graduated with honours from one of European football’s finest finishing schools. And Dedic is now en route to earning a footballing PHD of his own.

“My relationship with Amara started when he was still a child. I trained the U14 team of Sturm, and he played a year younger (in the age group),” Samir Muratovic, who worked with Dedic at Sturm Graz, tells Reprezentacija.

“Although I didn’t know him at the time, I invited him to join the seniors. And, in a short time, I saw that he was a guy with a future ahead of him.

“He is 100 per cent professional. He’s not afraid. He plays as if he has 3,000 tough games in his legs. Incredible confidence. Because of that diligence, he also reminds me of Hasan Salihamidzic, who earned everything through hard work.”
