Manchester United scouts were paying particular attention to Red Bull Salzburg prospect Amar Dedic this past weekend, claim 90Min.

So let’s get straight to it. Who is Amar Dedic and what could he bring to Manchester United?

Amar Dedic position

Amar Dedic is a right-back. He has played in this position in all 26 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg this season.

Amar Dedic club record

Salzburg signed Dedic as a teenager from Austrian rivals Sturm Graz. He spent two years on loan at second tier side Liefering, where he made 50 appearances.

Last season he went on loan to top flight side Wolfsberger, making more than 30 appearances, establishing himself as a regular.

This campaign he has stepped up as Red Bull Salzburg’s first choice right-back, starting all six games in the Champions League group stages, including a 1-1 draw away at Chelsea.

Dedic has scored two goals this season and provided three assists.

Verdict

Amar Dedic could be a shrewd low cost signing for Manchester United if the club decide to push ahead with a move.

He would be an alternative to Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong at right-back, who Fabrizio Romano says the club are also monitoring.

The club are still assessing options at the position, with Diogo Dalot’s contract expiring in 2024. If an agreement on an extension cannot be reached, Dedic may come more sharply into focus.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s resurgence is also worth watching. He has been a player reborn in 2023, when it looked like he might need replacing.

United scouting Dedic is due diligence on the club’s part, lining up potential options in case a move needs to be made.

With the 20-year-old already impressing at Champions League level, racking up more than 100 professional appearances, and featuring as an international, Dedic is hard to ignore.
