Manchester United are expected to move ahead and move for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, with sales due to be completed.

Fred is closing in on an exit from Manchester United, Fabrizio Romano reports. United are expected to soon activate a move for Sofyan Amrabat as his replacement.

Juventus have been linked, however, TMW claim via Gazzetta that a move is just going to be too difficult for the Bianconeri to complete.

Manchester United lead the race and Romano reports Amrabat has already ‘said yes’ to a move to the Red Devils, simply awaiting an agreement between clubs.

Amrabat is ‘perfect’

Italian sports agent Dario Canovi is expecting Manchester United to win the race for the Morocco international

He told TuttoJuve: “For me he’s perfect for English football. Perhaps it was the case to sell him in January but at that moment Fiorentina needed the Moroccan.

“From an economic point of view, they would have obtained a higher figure. It seems strange to me that no team has approached a serious offer.”

World Cup semi-finalist

Amrabat starred at the World Cup for Morocco in their run to the semi-finals. United’s interest is not reactive to that, with Erik ten Hag having extensive knowledge of his attributes.

The midfielder worked under Ten Hag when he was a teenager at Utrecht, playing 50 games. Both manager and player have grown, and can renew their partnership at Old Trafford.

Amrabat would provide United with another defensive-minded midfielder to add to Casemiro, able to fill in and play alongside the Brazilian.
