‘Must be a joke’ – Man United fans hate latest £44.5m transfer target linked with a move

Manchester United’s summer transfer window has not gone exactly to plan which has forced Ineos to rethink their targets.

Ineos deserve praise for moving quickly and confirming the signing of Matheus Cunha on the first day of the summer window. But since then, everything has grown much more complicated.

United missed out on Liam Delap and Jobe Bellingham with the young duo preferring to join Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

A £45m bid for Bryan Mbeumo was rejected by Brentford and talks are still ongoing with the Premier League club to come to an agreement over a fee.

Then there is the issue of signing a striker. Viktor Gyokeres is in a dispute with Sporting and prefers a move to Arsenal, while Hugo Ekitike’s £85m asking price is steep. United’s latest target, however, has not gone down well with fans.

As the search for a striker continues, there have been fresh rumours of United’s interest in Moise Kean this summer.

Kean has been urged to not join United, and it seems the Red Devils fanbase is in agreement given the reaction on social media.

Following reports from Italy that Kean is available to United for £44.5m this summer, one fan replied: “This must be a joke. No just no.”

Another frustrated fan wrote: “He should not even be on our list.”

Others pointed out Kean’s miserable spell in the Premier League with Everton, with one fan writing: “No thanks. Was useless at Everton.”

Another added: “I bet my life he’ll flop again like Everton”

One fan posted: “They can’t be serious. Letting Garnacho and Rashford go for this…”

While another named other targets that should be above Kean in United’s shortlist: “We don’t need this guy we need Victor Osimhen or [Benjamin] Sesko.”

Man United must avoid Moise Kean after Everton spell

So far this summer, the majority of United’s transfer targets have been proven Premier League stars.

Similar to Sir Alex Ferguson’s transfer strategy, Ruben Amorim is recruiting some of the league’s best talents in Cunha and (hopefully) Mbeumo.

With 12 goals last season, Delap also falls into that category. However, while Kean has spent time in the Premier League, it’s hard to suggest he was anything but a flop at Everton.

In 39 appearances for the Toffees, Kean only scored four goals while providing only two assists. Given that Everton signed him for £27.5 million – that is an underwhelming result.

Kean struggled to make an impact in the Premier League and United simply cannot risk spending big on a player who has already struggled in England.
