Morgan Rogers continues to look like an elite option for Manchester United to strengthen the left wing this summer.

It has been another superb campaign from Morgan Rogers for Aston Villa, ending in silverware.

Rogers scored as Villa lifted the Europa League on Wednesday night in Istanbul, further putting himself on the radar and making that £80m price tag look all the more sensible.

Over the course of this season, Rogers has made himself undeniable, and now he’s added a cherry on top of his increasingly big cake.

Morgan Rogers wins the Europa League player of the season

Rogers picked up the first major trophy of his career as Villa won the Europa League, and he starred in the game.

It was Rogers’ goal that wrapped up the game at 3-0, and he also assisted the opener with a delightful cross for Youri Tielemans to finish into the bottom corner.

This sees the forward end this season on three goals and five assists in his 15 Europa League appearances.

The result of his brilliance is that Rogers has now been named as the Europa League player of the season for his contributions.

It is an award that will certainly strengthen the argument that he costs so much, and he looks certain to conclude his season with a call-up to the England squad for this summer’s World Cup.

This is sure to add to Owen Hargreaves’ desire to sign Rogers.

Rogers would be a brilliant signing for United but there is one big concern

For Manchester United, adding a player of the quality of Morgan Rogers cannot be a bad thing, with the goals and creativity he would add to the attack.

However, the question is whether he actually fits in as a winger.

This is the only doubt over Rogers.

Rogers operates best in the centre of the pitch, occupying similar areas to Matheus Cunha as a winger, but is also potentially more long-term going to be a number 10.

Despite the evidence, Rogers prefers to play as a left-winger, and this could mean that he is seen as ideal by Ineos.

Michael Carrick and Jason Wilcox love Rogers, having worked with him before, which is also sure to play a massive role in his signing.

Hopefully, his strengths and position suitability are considered before he’s signed.
