Mason Greenwood being scouted by Premier League clubs amid strong Getafe form

Mason Greenwood is being watched by other Premier League clubs as his good form in Spain continues, according to reports.

Manchester United decided to loan forward Mason Greenwood to Getafe following the club receiving backlash for their original decision to keep the forward after the internal investigation had been completed.

Greenwood moved to the La Liga side and since then has done very well in La Liga, including a stunning 30-yard-goal for Getafe against Almeria on the weekend.

The 22-year-old broke through the United academy back in 2019 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was a generational talent for the Red Devils but United had no choice but to loan the Englishman.

Greenwood’s future

A report from Spanish outlet AS claims that Premier League clubs have sent scouts to watch the Englishman ahead of a potential move next summer.

This would certainly be a risky decision for any Premier League club due to the backlash that these prospective sides would receive from their fanbase if they did decide to sign the 22-year-old.

The report doesn’t state what clubs would be interested in the Englishman but you would suspect some of the league’s top sides would be attentive to the situation of the forward.

However, the report goes on to say that the Englishman is happy at Getafe and would be open to staying permanently and the Spanish side are in constant conversations with United about a permanent deal.

Greenwood to remain at Getafe

According to a different report from The Athletic, Getafe and United are set to hold a meeting in April with the Spanish side keen on understanding the Englishman’s intention for next season.

Greenwood is reportedly happy in Spain and is beginning to learn the language which is aiding his acclimatisation to La Liga and fitting in with his teammates.

United have made the right decision in regards to Greenwood and shouldn’t be tempted to bring the 22-year-old back to the club.

Despite Greenwood netting twice and having three assists for the Spanish side and his manager being full of praise for the forward, his future should remain away from the Red Devils and it looks like a permanent move to La Liga is on the cards.
