The Italian world-cup winner and former Inter defender has spoken about Kim Min-Jae and his possible transfer to Manchester United.

In an interview reported by Tuttomercato, Marco Materazzi has discussed Min-jae, referring to the South Korean defender as the Serie A’s best.

He went on to insist the Napoli centre-back had “everything he needed to do well in Italy and Europe”, as he receives consist links away to Europes richest clubs.

On the departure of Kim, Materazzi believes this will impact Napoli in a huge way. Comparing the departure with that of Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea last season.

However he believes that should Kim depart Naples this summer, there will be a plan to replace him.

“I believe that Napoli has prepared and is preparing for a possible sale that in any case would be heavy.”

However he added that it is risky to bet twice of replacing a star, meaning just because Kim was a success, another replacement might not be.

Kim Min-Jae’s updated possible fee

It has also been reported that Manchester United lead the way for the highly rated defender. Alfredo Pedulla says that while Premier League clubs have some doubts about the South-Korean, it is the Red Devils who stand at the from of the queue.

He adds that United are eager to tempt Kim by offering an “important economic proposal”.

Pedulla adds that the release clause stands at €60m, representing a huge profit on the €19m Napoli paid last summer. The fee however has been reported with huge fluctuation, as Fabrizio Romano reported the fee is only €50m.

Either way it appears Erik ten Hag is keen to bring the defender to Old Trafford. With potential departures for Eric Bailly, Harry Maguire and Phil Jones already confirmed to be leaving, a centre-back is needed.
