Manchester United snub chance to sign PSG striker before the deadline

Manchester United have snubbed the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike ahead of the transfer deadline.

United have been quiet in terms of incomings this month, seemingly preferring to wait until the summer to make new additions.

There have been rumours about a new striker though, given that Rasmus Hojlund needs more support in the final third.

Anthony Martial is unavailable yet again and will be leaving the club this summer, so new forward will certainly be on the radar.

There have been links to Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson but it looks like United will end the window without an addition up top – especially having turned down one potential signing…

Manchester United snub Hugo Ekitike move

TEAMtalk now claim that United have been offered the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Hugo Ekitike.

It’s suggested that PSG are desperate to offload Ekitike and have offered him out to a number of Premier League clubs ahead of the transfer deadline.

United are thought to be one of them with PSG no doubt aware of United’s need for a new striker.

PSG were open to United taking Ekitike on loan for the rest of the season but United’s position is consistent – there will be no incomings this month.

Ekitike was a top young talent at Reims and was branded as ‘very special’ by his former Reims boss Oscar Garcia.

That prompted PSG into taking Ekitike on loan in 2022, activating an option to buy before the 2023 summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old hasn’t played a single minute of first-team action since the end of the summer window though and he is completely surplus to requirements under Luis Enrique.

United seemingly aren’t tempted by Ekitike though and it’s unlikely that we see him move to Old Trafford in the coming days.

Ekitike may join Donny van de Beek in Germany

A move to United surely won’t be happening and Ekitike may end up in the Bundesliga instead.

L’Equipe report that PSG have moved closer to finding an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for Ekitike to move there this week.

Frankfurt would take Ekitike on loan until the summer with the option of a permanent deal worth around £25million.

That would be another impressive loan signing for Frankfurt, who have already landed Donny van de Beek on loan from United this month.

Ekitike needs to leave PSG in order to get his career back on track and whilst United don’t appear to be interested, he could now join forces with Van de Beek as both players desperately seek an improvement in their fortunes.
