Man Utd alerted to chance to sign proven £18m Premier League striker before the deadline

Manchester United have been alerted to the possibility of signing Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson before the transfer deadline.

United’s Financial Fair Play situation means that this has been a pretty quiet window in terms of incomings.

A host of players have left on loan, some with permanent options, but incoming rumours have been in short supply.

United would no doubt love another striker though, especially with Anthony Martial now facing another spell on the sidelines.

Finding a striker to come in right now is difficult but United may now be given the chance to land a proven Premier League hitman…

Manchester United alerted to Callum Wilson opportunity

The London Evening Standard report that United have been ‘alerted’ to the availability of Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson.

It’s suggested that Newcastle are willing to sell Wilson for around £18million before the January transfer deadline.

Newcastle need to consider selling players in order to stay within the Premier League profit and sustainability rules – and that means a player like Wilson could be available.

United – along with Arsenal and Chelsea – have now been alerted to the possibility of signing Wilson in the coming days.

All three clubs are in the market for a new striker and Wilson could now emerge as a potential signing if Newcastle are willing to cash in.

United should strongly consider Callum Wilson deal

Wilson’s goal record at Newcastle is hugely impressive, bagging 45 goals in 89 games since signing from Bournemouth for £20million in 2020.

Add in his 41 goals in 126 Premier League games for Bournemouth and you have a striker who has proven himself to be a consistent source of goals.

That experience is vital and Wilson is the kind of striker United would surely love to bring in alongside Rasmus Hojlund, passing on knowledge whilst being able to come in and score goals himself.

There are concerns about Wilson’s injury record, and he may not be a long-term option at 32, but £18million is a decent price for a proven Premier League hitman.

Whether United have that kind of money available in this transfer window is unclear but we would recommend looking very closely into a move for Wilson.
