Harry Maguire is one player who continues to be linked with a move away from Manchester United, now a bid has come in.
Maguire has seemingly been on the outs at United after being unceremoniously stripped of the captains armband.
The English International barely featured last season dropping as low as fifth choice in the centre-back department.
He was so out of favour under Erik ten Hag, that Luke Shaw was opted for ahead of the 30-year-old defender, despite calling Maguire “dominant”.
All of this has pointed Maguire toward the exit door, despite reports he is keen to fight for his United career.
West Ham bid for Maguire
West Ham have been an expected suitor for Maguire all summer long, due in part to their huge transfer windfall which has boosted their coffers.
Now, according to The Athletic, West Ham have seen a first bid of £20million rejected for the England international.
It is believed David Moyes is very keen on signing Maguire and could offer him a chance to rebuild his damaged reputation.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Also he would be a first-team regular at the Hammers, which would boost his chances to be involved in the 2024 European Championships next summer.
The only issue with this deal is the salary concern, with West Ham unlikely to match what he is currently being paid by United.
It is also unclear if he would want to make the move, however with the current Conference League winners in Europe next year, it is possible.
Should United have accepted?
Maguire is a problem at United, however at West Ham he would be a huge coup, with him instant becoming their star player.
With Tony Cottee even suggesting Maguire become captain for the Irons.
The money offered would also benefit United hugely as they are in the midst of a rebuild with two more signings wanted this window.
For all parties this deal makes sense despite the bid being on the low side, so if West Ham return, United absolutely should sell with a slightly improved offer.
