Manchester United need signings across the pitch this summer but Ruben Amorim will surely look to bolster his midfield come the end of the season.
Manchester United are heading towards the end of another testing season.
Out of the FA Cup, out of the Carabao Cup, mid-table in the Premier League; United are in danger of ending the season on meek fashion.
United have been drawn against Real Sociedad in the Europa League, meaning that Ruben Amorim faces a tough route towards the final.
Whilst Amorim will be chasing that European success, we could not blame him for just wishing that the end of the season was a little closer.
United must work hard to bolster Amorim’s squad for the future, and this week’s trip to San Sebastian could present a scouting opportunity.

Manchester United eyeing Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi
The La Liga side will pose a real threat to United and Martin Zubimendi will be one of the key men for the hosts.
Zubimendi is the key man in Real’s engine room and he appears to have impressed United.
Give Me Sport claim that United are interested in signing Zubimendi and will keep very close tabs on him during the upcoming Europa League tie.
Hailed as ‘world class’ by Kieran Tierney whilst speaking to The Guardian, Zubimendi can leave Real for £51million this summer thanks to a release clause and United would be interested in pairing him with Manuel Ugarte.
The problem is that Arsenal are closing in on Zubimendi and already have a summer deal ‘virtually agreed’ according to the Daily Mail.
Beating Arsenal to Zubimendi’s signature will not be easy, especially with boss Mikel Arteta’s connections to Real.
The 26-year-old would be a major addition to United’s midfield and Amorim has no doubt picked him out as the man to watch this week.
A lack of European football could scupper United’s hopes though with Arsenal seemingly far along with a deal and able to offer football at the top of the Premier League and even Champions League.
Manchester United must invest in a midfielder
United may not be able to win the race for Zubimendi but adding midfielders this summer must be a top priority.
Christian Eriksen is poised to leave United and many fans would be looking to see Casemiro move on after a disappointing spell at Old Trafford.
Reports in Italy suggest that United failed with a move for Douglas Luiz before the January window closed, but the Brazilian may well be on the radar for the summer too.
Luiz’s Premier League experience with Aston Villa certainly makes him an appealing target and he would be much cheaper than Zubimendi.
Whether it’s Zubimendi, Luiz or somebody else, United need to invest in midfield talent – possibly with two or more signings rather than just the one.
