Last summer if Jude Bellingham had been on the market, Manchester United would probably not have had a look-in compared to Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s side were in the Premier League title race and Champions League finalists.
Meanwhile, United were in disarray after the club’s worst ever Premier League season.
12 months later the pendulum has swung in the other direction. Manchester United are competing in four competitions with quiet whispers of a title bid, while Liverpool rank 14 points behind us down in a distant eighth place.
Now to compound matters, they could be about to get left behind financially too.

Jude Bellingham boost
Liverpool owner John Henry has announced they will not sell the club, after months spent inviting offers.
He was quoted by Sky Sports: “Are we selling LFC? No. Are talking with investors about LFC? Yes. Will something happen there? I believe so, but it won’t be a sale.”
Investment will help Liverpool, but nowhere near like their fans want. Manchester United are appear to be looking at a full scale takeover.
An offer from Qatar has pledged to wipe out the club’s debts and provide everything needed to restore the club to former glories. There is another takeover offer on the table from Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
There is a fear the Glazers will go down the route of FSG and look to stay at the club. But this is gong to be hard to achieve or be palatable with big money full takeover offers on the table.
Once a takeover is completed, the battle to sign future star Jude Bellingham will begin. The Times wrote last week that Manchester United’s recent form and performances are likely to appeal to the Borussia Dortmund star.
Right now it seems like United hold all the cards over Liverpool. Of the two teams, the Red Devils are the one side looking likely to be playing Champions League football next season.
Then add in a United takeover, and Liverpool’s owners seemingly giving up on the idea, and the club’s chances of signing Jude Bellingham are suddenly looking even brighter.
