Manchester United interested in former Bayern striker now shining in Serie A

Manchester United are reportedly not interested in VFB Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy and are instead targeting another former Bundesliga forward.

Serhou Guirassy has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in January as the forward’s valuation of just £15 million was said to intrigue the Red Devils.

A new forward was seemingly being targeted by Erik ten Hag due to the struggles of Rasmus Hojlund who has still yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League, despite netting five times in the Champions League.

Anthony Martial looks set to depart in January too with the Frenchman’s contract expiring in the summer and there being no appetite on United’s side to extend his contract.

United’s new striker target

According to a report from German outlet Sport1, United are not interested in the Stuttgart forward and are instead interested in former Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee.

Currently at Bologna, Zirkzee looks to be a surprise name in the running for the striker position and he could well be an interesting target if United were to pursue him further.

Zirkzee has scored seven times for the Italian side and has also provided two assists this season so he could well be a name to keep an eye on for the Red Devils but one thing is for certain, they need a goalscorer.

The German striker could be available for around £30-35 million but Bayern, his previous club, can sign Zirkzee for just half that due to the deal they struck with the Italian side when the German giants sold him to them.

United’s need for a striker

Zirkzee has had a previous spell at Belgian side Anderlecht and netted 15 times, if the Red Devils could get that sort of goalscoring pedigree into a front line that needs it, it could be a massive boost.

Ten Hag can no longer rely on his current options in attack and needs a fresh injection of something different to his forward line otherwise the struggles of this season will continue.

Zirzkee, who certainly has the physical profile to succeed in the Premier League, could be a wise winter acquisition for the Red Devils.
