Manchester United are reported to be paying attention to Getafe, and not necessarily for Mason Greenwood.
Spanish side Getafe took a chance on Mason Greenwood at the end of last summer, and the loan deal has worked out very well for them so far.
The previous summer they took a similar gamble, paying £8 million for Real Madrid youth prospect Borja Mayoral.
Mayoral has struck up a partnership with Greenwood, with AS describing the pair this week as Getafe’s ‘golden duo’. It has apparently caught Manchester United’s eye.

Borja Mayoral linked to Manchester United
Borja Mayoral is enjoying an excellent season. He is currently La Liga’s joint top goalscorer with 14 goals, level with Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham and Girona’s Artem Dobryk.
According to Give Me Sport, Manchester United have been left impressed by the 26-year-old striker, when monitoring Greenwood’s development.
Mayoral is under contract at Getafe until 2027, but the Spanish side are unlikely to be able to resist a decent offer, and relations with United are good, due to the Greenwood loan move.
The youngster was a standout at youth level, scoring 27 goals combined for Spain’s under-19s and under-21 sides, but he has never been capped at senior level. A first call-up may not be too far off.
His progress stalled at Real Madrid amid the superstars in his path, and he has begun to rebuild his career at Getafe, with new purpose and focus.
Jose Mourinho signed Borja Mayoral on loan
One former Manchester United manager did sign Borja Mayoral. Jose Mourinho took him on loan at Roma in 2021/22.
Mourinho was quoted via Sky Italia after a win against CSKA Moscow, commenting: “His goal was beautiful, but I also liked the work he put in. I am not surprised, because he always works hard.”
Mayoral scored 18 goals across two loan spells at Roma, before eventually falling out of favour, and going to Getafe on loan instead, where he clinched a permanent deal. His time at Real Madrid was largely spent on loan, but he did score seven times for them when given opportunities.
Mourinho, separately, has been claimed to be keen on a return to Manchester United. Yes, really.
