Manchester United have already been given green light to make Senne Lammens transfer move, ‘must happen…’

Manchester United have identified Senne Lammens as a priority transfer target.

United have been assessing options at the goalkeeper position since Andre Onana suffered a hamstring injury.

There are doubts over whether Altay Bayindir will stay at the club, and Lammens would come in at first as a replacement for the Turkey international.

Due to Onana’s injury, Lammens could start the Premier League season in goal for United, and get a chance to stake his claim.

United In Focus report Lammens has emerged as a key target for Manchester United, and they are exploring a deal to sign him.

United unlikely to face Lammens resistance from Antwerp

Manchester United’s former partner club Royal Antwerp stand in Manchester United’s way to sign Lammens – but they are expected to hold the door open.

This is because Antwerp have already accepted Lammens will leave the club this summer, and have moved to sign a replacement.

After completing a deal to sign Taishi Nozawa from FC Tokyo this past week, Royal Antwerp have publicly declared Lammens can leave.

Sporting director Marc Overmars, formerly of Ajax, was quoted in Belgium: “Many clubs are ready to take action for Senne. He is the most sought-after.

“And that transfer must happen, because we already brought in his replacement.”

Citing an unwanted prospect of having to choose between two goalkeepers, he added in reference to a past battle: “A Butez-Lammens scenario is something we’d rather not see again.”

Senne Lammens deal would be sensible move

Manchester United need fresh input at the goalkeeper position, and 23-year-old Senne Lammens is a high-upside option.

Lammens expressed excitement about Manchester United when told about interest earlier this year, with United links also reported on by BBC Sport.

Manchester City have been linked previously to Lammens, with Leeds and Sunderland more recently linked, amid suggestions he would cost around £17 million.
