Manchester United are now showing an interest in signing Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand ahead of the January transfer window.
United were linked with a host of centre backs over the summer but the only addition there ended up being Jonny Evans.
Harry Maguire stayed put and is now getting back to his best whilst Victor Lindelof is expecting to stay put.
It’s unclear whether United will sign another centre back in 2024 but a new name is now being linked.
Manchester United scout Real Sociedad’s Robin Le Normand
TEAMtalk now report that United have been scouting Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand.
It’s claimed that United have joined Liverpool in taking a keen interest in the Spain international.
Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this year that Arsenal had been looking at Le Normand, who has a €50million (£43.5million) release clause in his contract.
That’s a fairly hefty price to pay and United will now have to weigh up whether Le Normand is worth that kind of money.
Le Normand was born in France but switched his international allegiance to Spain earlier this year and now has six caps.
The 6ft 2in centre back turns 27 in November and may well believe that the time is right to land a big move away from Sociedad after more than seven years with the club.

Le Normand another right-footed option for United
We have seen United linked with a number of right-footed centre backs of late.
Erik ten Hag seems happy to go with Luke Shaw as cover for Lisandro Martinez on the left side moving forward.
The likes of Jean-Clair Todibo, Edmond Tapsoba and Marc Guehi have all been heavily linked of late, with all of them right-footed.
It looks like the idea is to find another potential partner for Martinez amid concerns over Raphael Varane’s injury woes.
There would be a certain irony in United targeting Le Normand to compete with Varane too.
Le Normand called Varane an ‘inspiration’ last year and United could now give him the chance to join the former Real Madrid star at Old Trafford.
