Manchester United are keen on a move for Evan Ferguson and do not want him to be the only striker addition.

According to a report in The Mail, Manchester United want to sign Evan Ferguson and ‘a more experienced’ striker this summer.

Ferguson has been impressive for Brighton this season, making his breakthrough as a Premier League player.

He has struck eight goals for Roberto De Zerbi’s side in all competitions, as well as making his international debut for Republic of Ireland.

United’s plan sounds good but it will be expensive

Evan Ferguson looks like the real deal. He is an imposing young striker who looks to have a huge career at the top level ahead of him.

An ideal scenario would be to snap him up for £20-25 million and then spend a larger fee on a more proven option.

It would be asking too much of the 18-year-old to lead United’s attack on his own. He would learn a lot behind a Harry Kane, for instance.

It helps that Ferguson admits to being a Manchester United fan, but Brighton do not plan on letting him leave cheaply.

The Mail report Brighton plan to offer Ferguson an improved new contract, and add they only want to let him go for ‘silly money’.

This is partly due to the fact they expect to be receiving big bids for other players including Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo, and want to keep their squad together as much as possible.

Ferguson might end up being a luxury buy for Manchester United in the summer, and the Red Devils won’t be the only side interested.

First up, United have to try and stop Ferguson in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley later this month.
