Manchester United are eyeing a move for Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, according to foreign reports.

ESPN South America report Manchester United are ‘closely following’ the midfield star.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool are also said to hold interest in the 24-year-old World Cup winner.

According to Tyc Sports’ Gaston Edul last month, as relayed by All About Argentina on Twitter, Brighton have set a price of around £62 million, 70m Euros.

Manchester United to get close look at Mac Allister

Manchester United will get a close look at Alexis Mac Allister over the next two months with two matches scheduled against Brighton, one in the FA Cup semi-final and one in the Premier League.

Mac Allister is an international teammate of United’s Lisandro Martinez, and is widely expected to leave Brighton after his profile soared following his World Cup success.

The 24-year-old started six matches including the final as Argentina won the tournament last December, scoring once.

He has enjoyed a strong campaign for Brighton, scoring eight goals in 24 Premier League matches and a further two goals in the FA Cup.

Mac Allister is strong on both sides of the ball and could be the alternative to Frenkie de Jong that Erik ten Hag has been searching for. The Athletic report the manager wants to sign a ‘number 8’ style midfielder.

He is not the only Brighton player of interest to United. Striker Evan Ferguson and winger Kaoru Mitoma were both linked by The Sun, while midfielder Moises Caicedo is also a long term target.

Mac Allister would be reasonably priced at around £60 million. A signing from Argentinos Juniors in 2019, Brighton will land a good profit on their investment. His deal expires in 2025, although Brighton have an option to extend by a further year.
