Manchester United target Kim Min-Jae rejects a new Napoli contract ahead of a potential summer transfer.

The signing of the South Korean defender looks like an increasing possibility for Manchester United. The Italian media have recently reported that he is almost set to sign for the Red Devils.

The Napoli centre-back could be the first signing in what could be a mightily busy summer for United, with them looking at midfielder options and also a striker and goalkeeper to bolster their chances in the 2023/24 campaign.

More news has broken today about the £42m man, stating that he’s rejected to sign a new contract at the Italian side.

Kim Min-Jae rejects contract proposal at Napoli

90min understands that Kim Min-Jae has turned down the offer of a new contract at Napoli that would have removed his current release clause.

Napoli are desperate to keep Kim given the impact he had in their Scudetto charge, which meant they offered the player a new contract, with a significant pay rise. However, this would also include a stipulation to remove his release clause.

Sources have also confirmed to 90min that the defender does not want to agree to this stipulation – which is great news for Manchester United.

According to Italian newspaper by Il Mattino, United will pay Kim Min Jae‘s release clause.

The Italian newspaper claimed that the Red Devils will exercise the payment of the release clause when it can be triggered, between July 1 and 15.

United is the English club that has shown the greatest interest so far, but there are also others from the Premier League and across Europe.
