Manchester United are narrowing in on this summer’s potential signings, and the data department has found a player they love. This makes him possibly this year’s Senne Lammens.

Last summer’s transfer window has aged beautifully, with each of the four signings Manchester United made being a success so far.

Of the quartet, Senne Lammens has been voted United’s best summer signing, considering the impact he has had in goal.

Lammens was a data-driven signing, with Ruben Amorim wanting Emi Martinez instead. Ineos’ commitment to data will probably be more steadfast this season, given the success of Lammens.

Manchester United’s data department love Tyler Adams

Data plays a key role for United these days, with Ineos investing time and money to grow the department over the past 18 months.

Now, the data team have a new target in the form of Tyler Adams, according to Nathan Salt speaking to Stretford Paddock.

“United’s data department love Tyler Adams. Anybody you speak to says he scores highly on this metric and that metric […]. They are adamant that statistically, the analytics show that he is really good and they have liked him for a while.

“He’s one name that I don’t think is going to go away until United get their business done. I’m not saying they’ll get him, but if he was the first one through the door, you’d have people having meltdowns.”

United have been linked with Adams this season on multiple occasions, as the American midfielder has proven himself to be a very capable midfielder in the Premier League.

This summer, United have three midfield targets in mind, with Adams likely to fall into the cheaper category, alongside two others.

However, should Bournemouth get Champions League football he would surely cost a lot more.

United also looking at Ederson and Joao Gomes

Also speaking on Stretford Paddock, Salt has revealed two other cheaper names on the radar this summer, one being the Brazilian Ederson.

“Ederson has come back onto the radar. I spoke to somebody at Carrington the other day, and they said yep – Ederson is back on the radar.”

Additionally, Joao Gomes from Wolves is being considered, but it looks unlikely.

“Joao Gomes is another one they looked at earlier in the season, but there’s an expectation now that he will end up at Atletico Madrid.”

Gomes would be a cheaper midfielder, given Wolves’ relegation, and therefore, as a Manuel Ugarte replacement, could be a wise move.

This trio would all be good upgrades on Ugarte, but only after two top-class additions are made.
