Man Utd want four key signings this summer, Ruben Amorim rebuild will start to take shape with new transfer priority

Manchester United are planning for a busy summer transfer window after a turbulent campaign.

With Manchester United currently positioned 16th in the Premier League, after 17 defeats and a -11 goal difference, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Ineos feel the need to back Ruben Amorim in the transfer window.

The recruitment in recent years has been rightly criticised, but Ineos have changed the club’s approach to the market with long-termism by targeting the best young talents on offer.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s cost-cutting strategies have been introduced to ease the pain on United in the transfer market because he knows the squad isn’t where it needs to be right now.

United fans will hope to see shrewd recruitment in the market this summer and the type of players who will fit into Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation.

Manchester United’s plans for the transfer window revealed

There has been a lot of uncertainty around United’s financial power this summer. It would be bolstered by winning the Europa League final next week, as that would secure Champions League qualification.

Not only would United become a more attractive destination for any new signings, it would give them more financial power in the market, with the figures already appearing grim as far as Ratcliffe is concerned.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United want up to four key signings as part of the overhaul of their worst domestic squad in 51 years.

It is understood that United are ‘confident’ of adding to their frontline without the need of sales, which is encouraging news, following a pursuit of Premier League duo Liam Delap and Matheus Cunha.

Among the priorities will be a new midfielder as Amorim’s rebuild will start to take shape. He needs an extra pair of legs in that department to help with the workload currently on Manuel Ugarte.

Furthermore, Casemiro may face an uncertain future as he’s not getting any younger, despite playing a key role in United’s run to the Europa League final.

Additional signings depend on sales

United will be aiming to do more business in the summer, although that will be heavily dependent on whether they can sell players deemed surplus to requirements.

Ineos will be hoping to see the end of players like Antony, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Tyrell Malacia, who have all spent time out on loan in recent months.

Perhaps the easiest player to sell this summer will be Antony following his resurgence at Real Betis.

It remains to be seen if Rashford will get his dream move to Barcelona.
