Manchester United are set for a blockbuster summer transfer window with a handful of exciting players being linked to the club.

This season has been underwhelming at Old Trafford, to say the very least, as Manchester United sit 13th in the league with just nine games left to play.

Ineos will be desperate for their second season in charge of footballing operations to be more successful than 2024/25 has been – barring a triumph in the Europa League.

Therefore, United are preparing for at least 10 departures this summer, with multiple others likely for sale as well, despite limited interest in players such as Luke Shaw.

To rebuild the team, United have four priority positions which need to be strengthened and in each of these areas, exciting names are being linked with Old Trafford. Now, one of the leading targets has been advised to join Ruben Amorim’s side.

Francisco Trincao told to join Manchester United

United in Focus understands, after speaking with transfer expert Graeme Bailey, that Francisco Trincao has been advised to move to United this summer.

It is now clear that Trincao has been told that a move to Manchester United is right for him.

We understand that Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot have both not been shy about proclaiming the virtues of a move to Old Trafford to their international team-mate, but we can also reveal that Cristiano Ronaldo has recommended the move to the former Barcelona starlet.

We revealed United’s interest in Trincao last year, and we are told he is seen as an ideal attacking midfielder within Ruben Amorim’s system by a number of figures within the club.

There will be competition as Trincao is also very much on Hugo Viana’s wishlist at Manchester City for when he takes charge at the Etihad. Viana is believed to be hoping to take Trincao and teammate Ousmane Diomande.

Trincao does have interest from around Europe, with AC Milan amongst those who are keen – but we are told the former Wolves man is keen to return to the Premier League and make an impact.

Francisco Trinaco could follow in the footsteps of Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo

By heeding his compatriot’s advice and joining United for the rumoured £30m price tag, Trincao would be following in the footsteps of some Old Trafford icons.

Both Ronaldo and Bruno arrived at United from Sporting as exciting attacking players who soon made themselves indispensable to the club, and both now have a place in the club’s history books.

Trincao is cut from a similar cloth, with his 19-goal contribution season in Portugal sure to lead to several suitors, but United hold the ace card.

Amorim is the ace United have in this transfer chase, as he and Trincao know each other from Sporting, where the winger was a key part of the team and is considered an ideal Amorim player.

All signs are pointing toward United signing Trincao this summer, and all being considered, it would be a very good move from Ineos, and it would delight Amorim.
